Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving a K-12 student population in Clermont, FL. This position is a contract role for the uping school year, providing 37.5 hours per week of dedicated instruction and support to students with visual impairments across mixed age groups.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to the needs of visually impaired students throughout the K-12 spectrum
- Collaborating with educational teams, families, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Conducting assessments to monitor student progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly
- Providing direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility, assistive technology, and other specialized areas as needed
- Maintaining thorough documentation and munication related to student goals and services
Desired qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Familiarity with providing services across multiple grade levels and diverse student populations
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- While not required, licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) is highly desirable
