MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and one (1) year of professional work experience.
A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university can substitute for the one (1) year of professional work experience.
Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees appointed to positions involved in collecting samples for the dairy regulatory program must pass an evaluation conducted by a Milk Sampling Surveillance Officer to become a Certified Sampler within 90 days of employment and maintain valid certification.
This position has regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 112.313, Florida Statutes, and Chapter 60L-36.003, Florida Administrative Code.
Occasional travel required.
Must reside in required county(ies) throughout employment in this position.

JOB DUTIES:
The incumbent in this position administers a dairy regulatory program in an assigned area according to the requirements of the Grade A Pasteurized Milk Ordinance, Florida Dairy and Frozen Dessert Laws and Guidelines of the Bureau of Dairy Industry. Responsibility for completion of requirements on a quarterly basis rests upon the individual. Completion of these activities is vital to meeting the agency goal of “Ensure the safety and wholesomeness of foods and other consumer products.”
Inspect each dairy farm, milk and milk products plant, transfer depot, single service container plant, frozen dessert plant, manufacturing plant, wash station, bulk milk tanker and bulk milk hauler in an assigned area. Inspection frequency and procedures are those in accordance with the requirements of Chapters 502, Florida Statutes, and 5K-10, Florida Administrative Code, and Bureau of Dairy Industry Guidelines. Provide support to the State Hemp Program.
Collect samples of products from dairy farms, milk and milk products plants, frozen dessert plants and single service container plants. All sampling procedures used are those that are in accordance with recommendations contained in the American Public Health Association – Standard Methods for Examination of Dairy Products and Chapter 502, Florida Statutes. All samplers must be approved and certified by a certified Milk Sampling Surveillance Officer who has been certified by USPHS/FDA.
Conduct follow up actions to enforce requirements of Chapters 502, Florida Statutes, and 5K-10, Florida Administrative Code, when products of facilities do not meet the standards of the law. Issue hold orders, stop sale notices and stop use notices. Suspend and issue permits/licenses when required.
Consult with dairy owners or plant managers on milk quality sanitation measures; construction of new dairies or plants and repair of existing facilities; dairy or plant management and personnel. Work with the dairy or plant to explain areas of deficiency and what measures need to be taken in order for the dairy or plant to be in compliance.
Maintain complete records of each dairy or plant in assigned territory. Information compiled includes sample results, inspection results, hold orders, water samples results, and other pertinent documents that refer to the dairy or plant.
Participate in training courses, bureau and division meetings. Read trade publications to keep abreast of the dairy industry nationally. Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
KSA of dairy farming, milk and milk product processing equipment, sampling procedures, regulatory codes, quality control, dairy chemistry and microbiology, cleaning and sanitizing procedures, water supplies, insect and rodent control, waste disposal, refrigeration equipment, record keeping and matters of public health.
