Accountant IV

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs intermediate level accounting work. Ensures that all duties are completed in an accurate and timely manner and in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and laws. Work is performed under general supervision. Position exercises some judgement in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Responsible for supporting the reporting, budgeting, pricing and analysis of financial activities and overall fiscal status in compliance with financial guidelines and company policy. Supports and provides back up in the preparation of monthly allocation and program cost reporting.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Participates in the month-end closing process by compiling, analyzing, and posting General Ledger Journal entries, and reconciling select General Ledger accounts.
- Cross trains on all critical department duties to provide backup.
- Reviews and reconciles monthly federal contract billings.
- Provides detailed pricing analysis and development for contracts and programs.
- Provides back up support to the monthly program costing reports that detail how each individual program is performing against budget. Projects the gain/loss of net income at year end.
- Reviews monthly financial information, performs analysis, and prepares detailed financial and management reports.
- Reviews and investigates GL posting discrepancies, as well as ensuring proper correction of journal entries.
- Provides back up support to allocation setup. Creates, maintains, and distributes reports from organizational systems.
- Support entry of annual budget into the accounting software system. Supports the budgeting process on a broad scale as needed.
- Performs research and analysis as required. Responds to inquiries from organizational departments and other financial staff.
- Provides oversight and review of other accounting functions such as A/R and A/P.
- Prepares monthly direct labor (DL) reports for management to review Government mandated contract labor ratios by site and associated departmental areas. Monitors how each ratio is performing compared to projections.
- Responds to required governmental questionnaires, census and surveys as needed.
- Supports the tracking and reporting of organizational Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Compiles and analyzes financial data for the annual financial audit; prepares necessary files and documentation to support audit requests.
- Prepares various ad hoc reports for management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Minimum of four (4) or more years of financial analysis and financial report preparation experience
- A combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may suffice for the above requirements.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must satisfy Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Level 2 background screening requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- MBA, supplemented by six (6) or more years of financial analysis and financial report preparation experience.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience analyzing financial data and preparing reports and budgets.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel), with advanced experience using Excel. Ability to learn applicable department/organization specific software.
- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related financial systems. Strong aptitude for financial, federal contracting and payroll systems.
- Strong emphasis on accuracy.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities to ensure deadlines are met.

TRAVEL:
No travel is expected for this position.
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE (IF APPLICABLE):
Must be authorized to access and work on government installations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time sitting at a workstation and utilizing a keyboard. Requirements above can be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Tasks are regularly performed inside without exposure to adverse environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, heat, cold, rain, fumes).
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Some tasks require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity.
Availability: Full-time
Salary: $25.00/hourly
