The Manager, External Affairs supports the company’s reputation management, crisis communications, and issues management efforts. This role plays a critical part in executing external affairs initiatives, managing high-profile issues, and responding to crises. The ideal candidate has a strong background in crisis communications, stakeholder engagement, and online reputation management and will work closely with cross-functional teams to protect and enhance the company’s reputation.

How You'll Shine:
Issues & Crisis Management

• Monitor and assess potential risks to the company’s reputation, providing recommendations and response plans.
• Support the execution of crisis communications strategies, ensuring alignment with business priorities and legal considerations.
• Act as a key liaison in coordinating crisis responses, working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Draft holding statements, key messages, FAQs, and executive talking points during crisis situations.
• Maintain and update the company’s crisis communications playbook to ensure readiness.

Reputation Management & Industry Engagement

• Assist in managing the company’s online reputation, monitoring sentiment, and identifying trends that may impact brand perception.
  

Stakeholder & External Communications

• Assist in developing messaging and communication strategies that effectively position the company among key external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Public Relations, Government Affairs, and Legal, to ensure consistency in external messaging.
• Draft statements, press materials, presentations and briefing documents for leadership on external affairs matters.
• Manage key external affairs content, including fact sheets, position papers, and messaging frameworks.

Government Affairs & Community Affairs Support

• Work closely with the Government Affairs and Community Affairs teams to ensure external communications align with policy positions and community engagement efforts.
• Assist in preparing communication materials related to legislative and regulatory issues.

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field.
• This role requires a detail-oriented, solutions-driven communicator who can handle fast-paced, high-stakes situations with professionalism and strategic thinking.
• The ability to work under pressure and meet very tight deadlines is required.
• 10+ years of experience in issues management, crisis communications, or corporate reputation management, preferably in a fast-paced environment.

Experience equivalent to the education requirement may be accepted in lieu of the education requirement.
