Executive Pastor of Ministries
Position Purpose
The Executive Pastor of Ministries serves as a key leader who executes the vision of the Lead Pastor with excellence across all ministries. This role focuses on strategic implementation, operational leadership, and ministry multiplication to ensure the church fulfills its mission of developing passionate followers of Jesus who live on mission. The Executive Pastor will provide hands-on leadership to Next Generation Ministries, Community Groups, assimilation, leadership development, and broader pastoral duties, while shepherding staff and volunteers to create healthy, growing, and multiplying ministries.
Key Responsibilities
Vision Execution & Strategic Leadership
• Partner closely with the Lead Pastor to understand, own, and execute the church’s vision and strategies throughout all ministries.
• Translate high-level vision into detailed plans, systems, and measurable outcomes that drive church health and growth.
• Oversee the execution of strategies related to assimilation of new people, leadership development, and overall ministry effectiveness.
Next Generation Ministries Oversight
• Provide leadership to Kids Ministry and Student Ministry Staff.
• Ensure these ministries are biblically grounded, engaging, safe, and effective in
discipling the next generation as passionate followers of Jesus.
• Collaborate with ministry directors/leaders to develop curriculum, train
volunteers, and create environments where families and children grow in faith.
Community Groups Oversight
• Lead and oversee all Community Groups, ensuring they are healthy, relationally
connected, and mission focused.
• Develop and implement systems for leader recruitment, training, care, and
multiplication to launch new groups regularly.
• Monitor group health through metrics, feedback, and pastoral care, addressing
challenges proactively to foster discipleship and community.
Pastoral & Staff Leadership
• Share in pastoral duties, including preaching, leading staff meetings, and
shepherding people under their care.
• Lead and develop ministry staff and key volunteers, cultivating a healthy team
culture aligned with the church’s mission and values.
• Participate in all-staff meetings and contribute to broader leadership initiatives.
Assimilation, Leadership Development & Ministry Execution
• Build assimilation process for new attendees, creating clear pathways from first-
time guests to committed members and leaders.
• Identify, develop, and deploy leaders at every level of the church.
• Oversee ministry operations to ensure alignment, excellence, and fruitfulness
across all areas.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Spiritual: A mature, passionate follower of Jesus with a clear calling to pastoral ministry. Must align fully with Mission City Church’s doctrinal statement, mission, and values.
• Experience: 3+ years of progressive ministry leadership experience, preferably in a growing church context. Proven track record in leading teams, developing leaders, and multiplying ministries.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree minimum (Master’s in Divinity or related field preferred).
• Skills: Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities; Solid communicator and preacher/teacher; skilled in volunteer recruitment, training, and leadership development; ability to execute details while maintaining a big-picture vision. Tenacity for church growth.
• Character: Humble, teachable, relationally warm, and shepherd hearted. A team player who thrives in collaboration and empowers others.
