REPORTS TO: Managing Program Director
SUMMARY: The Site Director manages the staff and day-to-day operations of the school-year and summer programs at one of Breakthrough Miami’s eight host school sites. This position is responsible for ensuring all program operations are aligned with Breakthrough Miami’s vision, mission, and goals; and for continuously improving educational enrichment and operational processes.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school-year and summer programs for Scholars, Teaching Fellows, AmeriCorps Members, Instructional Coaches, and Volunteers.
Collaborate with the program team to create a curriculum for the school-year and summer programs that addresses the organization’s college preparatory mission and fosters integration of site activities in support of common goals.
- Ensure Scholar success through effective academic programming, experiential learning opportunities and school options counseling.
- Recruit, interview, hire and train Teaching Fellows, Instructional Coaches, Volunteers, and Interns; working with team members to ensure timeliness and quality standards are met throughout the recruitment process.
- Supervise and evaluate staff, including Assistant Site Directors, Site Coordinators, Instructional Coaches, Teaching Fellows and AmeriCorps Members; holding them accountable for results.
- Build and maintain relationships with the host school community, including the Parent Network.
- Promote program engagement through the cultivation of other agencies and programs to expand the Breakthrough Miami network.
- Work collaboratively with all staff to achieve Breakthrough Miami’s mission and goals.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Dependable and regular attendance; evening and weekend work are required to fulfill the expectations of the role.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum five years of experience in education or other relevant setting
- Management/supervisory experience in an educational setting
- Classroom teaching experience
- Curriculum design
- Experience working with young adults, adolescents and families
- Demonstrated success in:
- results-oriented management/supervision; development and execution of systems to ensure accountability
- understanding, building and managing key relationships
- crisis/contingency planning and effective execution in the face of the unexpected

- Professional Teaching Certification
- Familiarity with Breakthrough Miami model and Miami-Dade Public Schools
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or Creole
