Class A Journeyman Lineman
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain primary and secondary overhead distribution lines , poles, crossarms, transformers, conductors, switches, and related hardware.
- Perform installation and maintenance of underground electrical distribution systems , conduit, pad‑mounted equipment, transformers, and associated components.
- Climb poles using approved tools and techniques to perform line construction, troubleshooting, and equipment replacement.
- Install, inspect, and test electrical meters, service connections, and associated components.
- Inspect overhead and underground lines to identify deterioration, damage, or potential hazards requiring repair or replacement.
- Locate, diagnose, and repair underground cable faults using industry‑approved testing methods and equipment.
- Perform switching operations as directed to safely isolate and re-energize circuits.
- A flexible work schedule is required, including evenings, weekends, extended hours, and storm restoration.
- Travel within and outside the designated service area may be necessary depending on project or emergency needs.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Lineman certification from an accredited apprenticeship program.
- Valid CDL Class A with clean driving record (tanker and air brake endorsements preferred).
- Proven ability to work on energized and de‑energized systems using approved methods.
- Demonstrated experience in overhead and underground line construction and maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, physical stamina, and the ability to work in all weather conditions at heights and in confined spaces.
- Proficient in safe pole‑climbing, bucket operation, and rigging techniques.
