Sales & Used Tax Senior Accountant

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Sales & Used Tax Senior Accountant in Saint Petersburg, FL. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the daily sales tax inbox and respond to a high volume of internal and external tax-related inquiries
• Process and maintain exemption certificates, including validating and completing required state and federal documentation
• Prepare and file U.S. sales and use tax returns accurately and on time
• Gather and analyze tax data to support compliance and reporting requirements
• Communicate directly with state tax agencies regarding tax notices, filings, and account maintenance
• Support sales tax compliance by answering customer questions related to sales tax, exemptions, and billing
• Understand the end-to-end billing process and how sales tax integrates into invoicing and revenue transactions
• Assist with general administrative and operational tax responsibilities as needed
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tax data is accurate across multiple systems
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Sales and Use Tax
• Strong understanding of U.S. sales and use tax compliance, exemption certificates, and tax return preparation
• Experience working with Avalara and a strong understanding of how it functions as a tax engine and integrates with ERP systems
• Experience with Sage Intacct and/or NetSuite ERP systems
• General understanding of billing, invoicing, and accounting processes
• Experience interacting with state tax agencies and resolving tax-related issues
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume email inbox and multiple priorities
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and quickly contribute in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with Stax Billing and Salesforce is preferred
• Income tax experience is a plus, but not required
