Job Summary:

The Director of Development, Planned Giving & Trust Services provides strategic leadership for the Florida Conference Association’s fundraising, donor engagement, planned giving, and trust services programs. This role integrates development and philanthropic strategy with fiduciary oversight of estate and trust services, ensuring donor intent is honored while advancing the mission, vision, and long-term financial sustainability of the Conference.

The Director partners closely with Conference administration, Association officers, pastors, and institutional leaders to articulate mission and funding priorities in a donor-centric manner, cultivate meaningful relationships, secure major and legacy gifts, and ensure compliance with denominational trust services policies and fiduciary standards.

Monthly Pay Rate: $5,520 - $5,804.00

Monthly Travel Budget: $1,245.00
Professional Development: $400 annually

Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Nonprofit Management, Development, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • 7+ years of experience in development, fundraising, planned giving, trust services, or nonprofit financial stewardship.
    • Demonstrated experience in major gifts, donor cultivation, and relationship-based fundraising.
    • Experience within a faith-based or nonprofit organization strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, donor relations, planned giving, and fiduciary responsibilities.
    • Ability to translate mission and ministry goals into compelling donor messaging.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and public-speaking skills.
    • High level of discretion and integrity when handling confidential donor and estate matters.
    • Ability to work effectively with boards, committees, pastors, donors, and senior leadership.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning skills.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Development & Fundraising Leadership
    • Lead and implement a comprehensive development and fundraising strategy aligned with the Florida Conference mission and strategic goals.
    • Assist Conference administration in articulating the mission, vision, and funding priorities in a clear, compelling, and donor-centered manner. Plan and execute major gifts campaigns, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors.
    • Identify potential donors through research, referrals, pastor relationships, and donor analytics.
    • Build strong collaborative relationships with pastors and church leaders to support donor engagement and philanthropic education.
    • Engage prospective donors through intentional outreach, relationship-building, and personalized communication.
    • Cultivate donor relationships over time, guiding prospects toward meaningful and mission-aligned commitments.
    • Facilitate and consummate charitable commitments, including outright gifts, pledges, and planned gifts.
    • Oversee annual and general fundraising initiatives, ensuring consistent donor engagement and financial sustainability.
    • Develop and support online giving strategies, including digital campaigns and donor communication tools.
    • Coordinate and participate in Camp Meeting appeals, group presentations, and special fundraising events.
    • Oversee donor communications, including mailings, appeals, and stewardship materials.
    • Write and contribute articles and donor-focused content for Focus, Southern Tidings, and other Conference publications.
  • Planned Giving & Estate Services
    • Direct and oversee the Planned Giving and Estate Services programs, including wills, trusts, gift annuities, and other charitable instruments.
    • Educate members and constituents on planned giving opportunities and legacy stewardship consistent with denominational values.
    • Accept and fulfill speaking engagements in churches and Conference settings to promote planned giving and mission support.
    • Coordinate the servicing of trustors, donors, and beneficiaries, ensuring timely, accurate, and compassionate administration.
    • Oversee the distribution of estate and trust income to beneficiaries in compliance with governing documents and policy.
    • Coordinate the duties of the trustee when the Florida Conference Association serves in a trustee capacity.
    • Provide professional recommendations regarding trust acceptance, gift structures, and risk considerations.
  • Governance, Reporting & Compliance
    • Assist in preparing agendas, reports, and supporting documentation for:
      • Florida Conference Association Executive Committee
      • Florida Conference Association Board
    • Serve as an active member of the following committees:
      • Florida Conference Association Executive Committee
      • Florida Conference Association Board
      • Florida Living Retirement Board
      • Trust Acceptance Committee
      • Scholarship Committee
    • Prepare for and respond to General Conference and denominational audits related to trust services and development activities.
    • Compile and submit required statistical and operational reports to the Southern Union and General Conference Trust Services.
    • Ensure compliance with denominational working policies, fiduciary standards, and nonprofit regulations.
  • Strategic Collaboration
    • Collaborate with Treasury, Conference Administration, Association Officers, Legal Counsel, pastors, and denominational partners to support integrated fundraising and trust services efforts.
    • Provide insight and recommendations to leadership on long-term financial planning, donor trends, and legacy giving opportunities.
    • Represent the Florida Conference with professionalism, discretion, and integrity in all donor and fiduciary interactions.
