Sr. Mobile Platform Developer
- Participates in scope of work and estimate development for mobile platform enhancements, utilizing advanced technical domain knowledge; leads scope and estimate development for complex mobile architecture or platform modernization efforts.
- Conducts client, implementation, product, and support needs analyses and translates business requirements into mobile software specifications for complex projects.
- Leads the design, development, maintenance, and evolution of cross-platform mobile applications supporting Android, iOS, and Windows device environments.
- Serves as a mobile solution architect, defining design patterns, technical approaches, and integration strategies that align mobile capabilities with the broader enterprise platform.
- Develops customized mobile application functionality by writing well-documented code in applicable mobile, web, database, and integration environments to meet documented software requirements.
- Performs maintenance and enhancement tasks on existing mobile platform components following established architecture, design standards, and product release practices.
- Analyzes highly complex mobile technical problems and devises new approaches, alternative solutions, and practical workarounds for synchronization, offline operation, upload handling, map configuration, device behavior, and platform-specific issues.
- Provides database design insight and supports local and backend data architecture considerations, including document-centric local databases, synchronization models, relational data opportunities, and future online/offline operating modes.
- Leads documentation and diagramming of mobile business requirements, technical requirements, architecture decisions, release impacts, support patterns, and implementation best practices.
- Coordinates with quality assurance resources to define mobile-specific test cases, review defects, validate complex scenarios, and ensure mobile release readiness.
- Provides advanced support escalation for mobile platform issues.
- Advises implementation, technical support, product, and leadership teams on mobile setup, configuration, troubleshooting, customer readiness, and appropriate escalation paths.
- Maintains continued knowledge of mobile technology developments, including the advancement of AI, cross-platform development approaches, device operating systems, security considerations, database technologies, and enterprise application architecture.
- Supports proposal, RFI, demo, user group, and webinar activities by providing accurate technical input on mobile capabilities, limitations, configuration requirements, and future direction.
- Leads code reviews, contributes to code review standards, develops reusable architectures, interfaces with remotes teams, directing work, checking results and mentors other development resources in mobile platform practices.
- Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
- Complexity (Variety or uniqueness of tasks; relative difficulty or importance of work performed; size of unit supported, etc.): Work involves research, analysis, architecture, development, and problem solving on a variety of highly complex mobile platform issues. Work requires application of sophisticated cross-platform mobile development techniques, enterprise application architecture, synchronization strategies, local and backend database understanding, GIS/web map integration, quality control, implementation support, and customer-facing technical judgment. The role supports a critical product area where technical decisions may affect customer implementations, support efficiency, release quality, and future platform direction.
- Decision-making (Supervision received; independent judgment or initiative; consequence of error): Supervision received is primarily administrative, with assignments provided in terms of broad objectives, product priorities, customer needs, and delivery expectations. Acts independently on technical matters pertaining to mobile application architecture, implementation approaches, defect resolution, support escalation, and release readiness within areas of expertise. Errors in judgment may result in delayed releases, customer support impacts, implementation rework, product instability, or increased operational dependency on senior technical resources.
- Work direction given to others (Titles and number of personnel; type of direction given): Provides technical direction, mentoring, code review guidance, architecture recommendations, and troubleshooting support to software developers, QA analysts, implementation specialists, technical support staff, product managers, and other project resources. May coordinate work of other developers or support staff for mobile platform assignments, releases, architecture initiatives, and customer escalations.
- Internal contacts (Required interaction/relationship with others within the organization): Interfaces with technical managers, product leaders, software developers, QA teams, implementation teams, technical support, business development resources, proposal teams, and administrative staff as necessary. Collaborates with leadership and product stakeholders on mobile versus desktop positioning, process improvement, platform roadmap considerations, and customer-impacting technical decisions.
- External contacts (Required interaction/relationship with others outside the organization): May represent the organization in technical discussions with clients, prospective clients, partners, subconsultants, user groups, and conference or webinar audiences. Provides technical clarification for proposals, RFIs, demonstrations, and customer engagement activities related to mobile platform functionality, constraints, configuration, and future capability planning.
- B.S. or B.A. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Engineering, GIS, or a related discipline, or equivalent directly relevant experience in enterprise software and mobile platform development. Non-degreed practitioners must demonstrate substantial direct experience in software development, mobile application architecture, enterprise systems, and technical leadership. Typical incumbent has 10+ years' experience or equivalent depth of specialized mobile platform expertise.
- Professional registrations : Industry-recognized technical certification, mobile development certification, cloud/platform certification, software architecture certification, GIS certification, technical paper, award, or professional registration in the case of incumbents with Engineering degrees is desired.
- Special skills: Must have extensive experience in the design, development, maintenance, and support of enterprise-scale mobile applications, including cross-platform mobile development, offline/online operating models, synchronization, device-specific troubleshooting, release coordination, and quality control. Must demonstrate a strong understanding of object-oriented programming, modern mobile development frameworks and tools, the .NET framework, C#, MAUI, Blazor, web services and integration patterns, relational and local database concepts, application security considerations, and enterprise software development practices. Experience with GIS, web maps, asset management systems, field data collection workflows, image and document upload handling, and mobile implementation support is desired but not necessary. Must demonstrate excellent analytical, interpersonal, technical writing, communication, mentoring, and client-service skills.

Ability to plan, prioritize, review project plans and technical documents, evaluate alternatives, and select appropriate solutions is required.
