ADVERTISING/WORKING TITLE: SENIOR CLERK (SECURITY)
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Homestead Correctional Institution in the Security Hallway.
Our mission is to provide exceptional secretarial and clerical support, ensuring efficient communication and organization within the department. We are dedicated to maintaining professional relationships, managing essential office tasks, and supporting our team to achieve departmental goals with accuracy and courtesy.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provides secretarial services like typing letters, reports, and taking meeting minutes. Helps with monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports and special projects. Acts as a backup for other staff when needed.
- Performs clerical duties assigned by the supervisor, including copying, scanning, and faxing documents.
- Maintains professional relationships with staff and the public by answering phones, greeting visitors, and routing calls. Ensures clear communication between the institution and the public.
- Reviews and distributes incoming and outgoing mail. Keeps files of office correspondence, reports, and other materials organized.
- Orders, receives, and distributes office supplies and equipment. Performs other necessary duties as required.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
