CERTIFIED NAVY Gas Turbine Engineering Technician (MGTI)
Job Description/Responsibilities:
- The experience required is a combination of mechanical, electronic and electrical disciplines, but is primarily mechanical in nature.
- Perform troubleshooting, assessment, and oversight of repairs of U.S. Navy shipboard Gas Turbine Engines associated with propulsion and electricity generation.
Qualifications/Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of “journeyman level” experience within the last 5 years in the following areas:
- Independently or leading a team of technicians troubleshooting, repairing or testing U.S. Navy ship structural, mechanical or electrical equipment/system.
- Independently or leading a team accomplishing formal material condition assessments (TSRA, ICMP, INSURV or similar) of U.S. Navy ship’s systems.
- Communicating the findings of the above troubleshooting/assessments with official reports.
- Documented experience with the following, or similar, workload databases: Microsoft Office products, Navy Maintenance Database (NMD), Electronic Departure From Specifications (eDFS), Navy Ship’s Engineering Drawing Repository (NSEDR) and TAAS-Info.
- Must possess and submit proof of a current Marine Gas Turbine Inspector (MGTI) certification (Navy Enlisted Classification code 4136) obtained in accordance with
the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual, Volume IV, Chapter 23. - Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to clear background checks/assessments as required.
- Physical requirements for efficient navigation aboard US Navy ships includes possessing the physical stamina, strength, agility, and endurance to walk continuously for extended periods of time without experiencing significant fatigue, adequate upper and lower-body strength necessary to climb ladders, stairs, ramps, and work aloft, and agility necessary to enter/exit confined spaces.
