Cytoprep and Histology Lab Team Leader (Hiring Immediately)

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Supervisor to join our Anatomic Cytoprep and Histology team in Tampa, FL .

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (8a – 5p); flexibility required

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise the day to day operations of the Cytoprep and Histology teams within the Anatomic Pathology department including customer service/support services
• Responsible for problem management, client communication, etc.
• Assist with preparation of laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory and non-technical personnel of the department
• Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate coverage
• Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
• Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary
• Engage in continuous process and service level improvements
• Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
• Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
• Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control
• Perform bench work as needed and maintain proficiency/competency in technical operations
• Ensure all work is in accordance with state and Federal regulations
• Perform quality assurance checks to ensure efficiency and accuracy
• Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
• Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development
• Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures
• Process and maintain payroll and personnel files
• Perform administrative duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
• 5 years of experience or more as a Histotechnologist/Histotechnician
• FL Supervisor license

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 6 months or more of supervising or leading a team
• Histology and/or ASCP certifications

Additional Job Standards

• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Familiarity with routine histology procedures and equipment
• Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
• Ability to work in a fast paced production environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
