The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) is the agency charged with licensing and regulating State of Florida businesses and professionals, such as cosmetologists, veterinarians, condominiums, hotels, and restaurants. The Work You Will Do:

This position is located within the Bureau of Compliance of the Division of Condominiums, Timeshares and Mobile Homes. This in-office position is part of the investigative team. It is responsible for analyzing and investigating incoming complaints alleging violations of Florida Statutes and Board Rules regulated by the Department.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for investigating complaints against condominium, cooperative and timeshare associations. This includes:

  • Conducts investigations of more complex issues to determine regulated parties' compliance with the Florida Statutes and Administrative Code.
  • Reviews and analyzes jurisdictional issues, prepares investigative plans, interviews witnesses, gathers and maintains physical evidence, conducts authorized travel, maintains investigative files properly.
  • Provides written and telephonic responses to complaints and inquiries from the public concerning issues regulated by the Division’s program areas.
  • Communicates with the public in a timely manner and is knowledgeable in applying the statutes and administrative rules enforced by the division to varying factual scenarios.
  • Generates appropriate documentation and maintains appropriate files in response to complaints and inquiries from the public.
  • Prepares cases for administrative action, trial, and related hearings or proceedings.
  • Develops and maintains a network of contacts among members and representatives of regulated industries.
  • Maintains a wide range of general knowledge of the Department and other agencies’ functions in order to provide referral information to the public as needed.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of investigative techniques.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply statutes and administrative rules to specific fact scenarios.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding interviews and take statements.
  • Ability to collect and analyze evidence.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations.
  • Ability to write accurate investigative reports.
  • Skilled with attention to detail and critical thinking.
  • Skilled with strong oral and written communication.
  • Skilled with customer service etiquette.

Minimum Requirement:

  • Two years of investigative experience;
  • Two years of experience in researching and analyzing statutory issues.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; OR
  • Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and two years of investigative experience;
  • Who are bilingual in both English and Spanish.
