Graphic Designer & Social Media Manager

Position Overview

The Graphic Designer & Social Media Manager serves as a key member of the Gulf Coast Symphony’s Marketing & Communications team, combining design expertise with digital engagement strategy. This hybrid role is responsible for conceptualizing and producing high-quality visual assets for print and digital platforms, while also managing the Symphony’s public-facing social media channels to maximize audience reach, engagement, and brand visibility.

The ideal candidate is a creative, detail-oriented professional with strong skills in both graphic design and content creation, as well as strategic insight into social media marketing. They will collaborate across departments to ensure a consistent brand voice and compelling messaging that advances the Symphony’s artistic, educational, and community goals.

Essential Responsibilities

Graphic Design

– Create and execute print and digital materials including advertisements, brochures, posters, concert programs, email campaigns, and website graphics.
– Maintain brand consistency across all visual communications.
– Develop innovative visuals to support fundraising, education, and community engagement initiatives.
– Prepare print-ready files and coordinate with vendors on production.
– Use Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools to produce high-quality creative assets.

Social Media Management

– Working with the Marketing Team, develop and maintain an annual social media strategy that integrates both organic and paid campaigns to drive engagement and follower growth.
– Execute a consistent content calendar across all channels, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Google Business.
– Monitor, respond, and engage with online audiences to build community and enhance customer service.
– Track performance metrics, analyze data, and adapt strategies to maximize results.
– Cultivate relationships with influencers and community ambassadors to expand reach.
– Collaborate with the Symphony’s digital marketing company to manage paid advertising campaigns.

Content Capture & Creation

– Attend concerts, events, and activities to capture high-quality photo, video, and audio content.
– Edit and produce short-form reels, long-form videos, and other multimedia content with quick turnaround times during peak seasons.
– Create engaging digital assets such as memes, GIFs, photo albums, and promotional graphics.
– Archive and organize content for institutional use and future campaigns.

Required Skills & Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Photography, Digital Media/Communications, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
– 3–5 years professional experience in graphic design, social media management, and digital content creation—ideally in performing arts, entertainment, or nonprofit sectors.
– Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro/After Effects), Microsoft Office, and video/audio editing tools.
– Proven ability to manage social media platforms and analytics tools (Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, etc.).
– Demonstrated skills in photography, videography, and post-production editing.
– Strong knowledge of branding, typography, layout, and visual storytelling.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Ability to multitask, manage competing deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

– Annual salary: $42,000 – $50,000 (commensurate with experience).
