Position Overview

The Respiratory technician is responsible for assisting in the provision of respiratory services and equipment to patients while operating within defined limitations, excluding BiPAP machines and ventilator management. The Respiratory technician supports the Respiratory Therapist (RT) by handling routine tasks, patient education, and basic maintenance of respiratory equipment, ensuring timely and effective service delivery.

KNOWLEDGE,ABILITIES&S K ILL S :Requiresabove-averageorganizational skills .Proficientverbalskillsareessentialascommunicatingwith clients,fami l ies,physicians,nurses,otherteammembers,andthepublicisfrequent. Ahighdegreeofskillinhumanrelations is necessary,withthe abilitytodealconstructivelyonaone-to-onebasiswithclients, families,physicians,nurses,otherhospitalpersonnel,andthepublic . Clericalskillsare required to complete activitiesassociatedwithdailyoperations. TheRespiratoryTechnicianmustdevelopathorough knowledgeofallhomemedicalequipment,with an emphasis onRespiratory equipment. Inaddition,knowledge of Medicare regulationsandother i nsuranceguidelines andregulations is necessary. Tact,goodjudgment,verbalability, andapositive attitudearevery i mportantattr i buteswhendeal i ng withclients, families,physicians,nurses,andallreferralsources.

Responsibilities and Duties

TECHNICAL/ADM I NISTRATIV E / CLINICAL: Demonstratescompetenceintheskill s , (processe s ,procedures,andequipment) necessarytocarryoutassigned d uties asidentifiedbelow.Demonstratedcompetenceinrecognizingandrespondingtopatients'physical , mental,emotional,anddevelopmentalneedsshouldbe eva l uated inrelationtothepatientpopulationsservedas appropriateforeachresponsibility.

A. Performs duties associatedwithdispensingHomeMedicalEquipment primary respiratoryequ i pmentfor MedCare Infusion S ervices,Inc .

1. Coordinates delivery ofandinstructsclientsontheuseofhomemed i cal equipment , primarily respiratoryEquipment.Evaluate the clients medical requirements andplaceappropriateequi pment tomeetthe cl ient's needsat home. DiscussesMedicareandInsurancerequirementsandcoveragewithclients fami l ies,physicians,andotherpartiesconcerned .

2. Obtainsverbalordersfromphysiciansandveritiesinsurance coverageandpriorauthorizationsforequipmentandsupplies. Obtainsand completes initialpaperwork , entersclientinsurance, medical,anddemographic i nformation,andchargesinto the computersystem.

3. Im plements andchangesin the courseoftreatmentprescribed by the client'sphysician. Problem-solve/troubleshootwithclientsandcaregiverswhoareexperiencingproblems.

4. Initiates,schedules,and completes follow-upphonecalls, assessments, andhomevisitsforCPAP machines,andotherrespiratoryequipmentasnecessary . Assesses cl ients tolerance, com pl iance,andsatisfactionregardingequipmentinuseasnecessary. Documentsfindings.

5. Actsasalliaisonbetween Medcare InfusionServices, Inc. , caregivers,Physicians,andHomeCareNursing Providers . Completes follow-upreportswhenrequired.

6. Ensure compliance with the organization's Code of Conduct and all applicable laws, including HIPAA regulations for the protection of sensitive information.

2. The employee is required to use their hands to operate vehicles and office equipment.

4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust.
5. Frequent prolonged standing/walking.

Salary: $18-$20 (based off of experience)
