We are recruiting for a Purchasing Manager for our Fort Lauderdale, FL client.

Key Initiatives & Responsibilities:

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs).
  • Negotiate favorable agreements to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and consistency.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews to ensure compliance with expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a supplier scorecard to evaluate and track vendor performance.
  • Continuously source new suppliers to drive cost efficiency and mitigate risk.

Food Cost Control & Analysis

  • Monitor and manage theoretical vs. actual food costs, addressing variances proactively.
  • Implement leading indicator tracking for food cost trends.
  • Develop cost-reduction strategies without compromising quality or operations.
  • Oversee inventory management, including forecasting, purchasing, and stock rotation.
  • Partner with operations and culinary teams to analyze and optimize recipe costs.

Financial Reporting & Collaboration

  • Work with finance teams to establish accurate food cost reporting.
  • Lead weekly and monthly updates on cost trends, savings, and vendor performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement with financial targets.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting related to food costs.

Operational Strategy & Process Improvement

  • Develop new procurement strategies to increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Improve ordering systems, supplier metrics, and contract management.
  • Support new product development through cost-effective ingredient sourcing.
  • Collaborate on product launches with culinary and operations teams.
  • Oversee Receiving and Warehouse functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business, supply chain, or equivalent work experience in food procurement or cost control.
  • 58 years of relevant experience in food procurement, supply chain, or cost management within a multi-unit foodservice, meal production, or food manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success in cost control and food margin optimization.
  • Experience analyzing theoretical vs. actual food costs.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain operations and procurement practices.
  • Cross-functional communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience negotiating vendor contracts and working with GPOs.
  • Proficiency with inventory systems and financial modeling tools.
  • Ability to work across finance, culinary, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
