Responsibilities
The ITS Classroom Support Group manages the technology in over 250 classrooms in over 50 buildings around FSU. We provide first rate support to instructors during and after their classes.
Responsible for providing support to technology-enhanced classrooms, ensuring optimal availability for students, faculty, and staff.
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, or modifies computer hardware, multimedia equipment, and related devices. Initiates routine diagnostics to determine the cause of equipment failure and follows standard procedures for problem resolution. Installs and customizes application software.
Trains users on basic computer functions, software, or multimedia equipment to facilitate and enhance their work experience.
Serves as principal point of contact to answer inquiries and serves as a liaison between instructors and the appropriate ITS area or University department able to provide problem resolution. Ensures instructors have access to classrooms during class times using the University access control system.
Maintains information relating to workstation configurations, replacement cycles, and inventory. Documents technical procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and two years' experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years.
Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to document existing and new processes.
Ability to effectively train and direct the work of others.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Ability to utilize technical and problem solving skills.
Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
Knowledge of applicable computer software and operating systems.
Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures for computer support.
Ability to perform assigned responsibilities with minimal to moderate supervision.
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of equipment and machinery used in the area of work.
Knowledge of computer operations, functions, and related peripherals.
A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one.

What is a typical day in this position?
Every day is different. We visit many classrooms to help instructors. We also work behind the scenes installing software and solving technical problems.
What can I expect in the first 60-90 days?
At the beginning, the new hire will tag along with other technicians to learn where our rooms are and how to fix common problems. When the new hire is comfortable, he or she will handle problems alone.

This is an USPS (University Support Personnel System) position.
This position requires the successful completion of a criminal history background check. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
