Established in 1898, Deal Golf & Country Club is a distinguished, member-owned private club steeped in golfing heritage. Spanning 130 scenic acres, the course features the hallmark elements of a Donald Ross design — challenging tight fairways, intricate bunkering, and meticulously contoured greens.
As a family-friendly destination, the club prides itself on first-class clubhouse amenities, a professional and welcoming staff, and a warm, inviting atmosphere where members and their guests can fully enjoy their time together. JOB SUMMARY
The COO will oversee every facet of club operations, ensuring seamless coordination between the Board of Directors, members, staff, and community partners. This strategic leader will implement club policies, direct department heads, and safeguard club assets. Driving excellence, the COO will manage budgets, uphold superior service standards, and champion initiatives that enhance the overall member experience.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the visible, approachable leader embodying warmth and personalized service to inspire the entire team.
- As the face of the club, ensure that all goals and performance standards are properly defined, communicated, and implemented.
- Implements general policies established by the Board of Directors; directs their administration and execution.
- Develop operational procedures and manage programs that support the club’s strategic plans.
- Lead long-term planning and annual business initiatives to ensure organizational effectiveness and growth.
- Coordinates development of operating and capital budgets according to the budget calendar; monitors fiscal health; takes effective corrective action as required.
- Oversees the care and maintenance of all the club’s physical assets and facilities.
- Coordinates the marketing and membership relations programs to promote the club’s services and facilities to potential and present members.
- Uphold excellence across food and beverage, recreation, entertainment, and other club services.
- Reviews and initiates programs to provide members with a variety of popular events.
- Works with subordinate department heads to schedule, supervise and direct the work of all employees.
- Serves as liaison between all management staff and the board. Coordinates inter and intra-committee activities.
- Develops, maintains, and disseminates a basic management philosophy to guide all club personnel toward optimal operating results, employee morale, and member satisfaction.
- Prepares reports and other support material for committee and board use.
- Negotiates and recommends board approval for contracts.
- Develops performance standards for direct reports (KPIs) and other measuring accountabilities.
- Performs other duties as directed by the president or board of directors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business management, hospitality, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a private golf club and member focused environment.
Skills:
- Outstanding business insight and fiscal management expertise.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Background in food and event operations with a sincere, thoughtful approach.
- Proven ability to lead teams and connect authentically with member needs.
- Experience managing high-volume clubs, capital improvement projects, and enhancing member experiences.
- Diplomatic and polished club ambassador.

- Positive, engaging presence with the ability to honor tradition while embracing evolving member preferences.
Industry Expertise
- Deep knowledge of golf and country club operations, current trends, best practices, and regulatory matters.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary is commensurate with overall experience, qualifications and culture fit. Additionally, the club offers a Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) program along with a strong benefits package.
SALARY RANGE: $175,000-$225,000
