Job Description:
This position serves as Florida Department of Education’s Information Security Manager (ISM), reporting directly to the agency head in all information security duties;

Position Responsibilities: 
The employee will supervise the Information Security Management Section; communicating with, motivating, providing or coordinating training and direct the work of his/her subordinates. 
Per statute Section 282.318(4), F.S.; Section 110.235(1), F.S.; Chapter 71 A-1.0003, F.A.C. Section 110.205(2), reports directly to the Commissioner of Education for information security activities. This position is responsible for key IT security activities throughout the year. The incumbent will be responsible for protecting the department’s assets, participating in the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CSIRT), disseminating information as it pertains to information security matters, and coordinating
Cybersecurity efforts between FDOE and the Department of Management Services – Florida Digital Services.

• Development of a strategic information security plan and associated operational information security plan;
• Development and implementation of agency information security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines
• Direction and management of the agency information security awareness program • Develops, implements, and maintains guidelines for a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT).
• Develops, implements, and maintains an ongoing IT Security Risk Assessment strategy/program.
• Coordination of Information Technology Disaster Recovery planning in support of the agency Continuity of Operations Plan;
• Serving as the agency’s internal and external point of contact for all information security matters.
• Participates as an active member of InfraGard and ISACA. Attends required Florida Digital Services (FLDS) Meetings and coordinates the Department’s security toolset provided by the FLDS – Disseminates information to IT Leadership.
• Disseminates Information Security updates and alerts from the MS-ISAC, US CERT, and Homeland Security as needed to protect the department from possible IT Security vulnerabilities.
• Provides IT Security consulting for various DOE IT projects as needed.
• Otherwise complying with applicable law for information security as well as the rules, policies, procedures, and best practices promulgated by the Florida Digital Service.

SES - LEAVE INFORMATION BELOW: 

  •   Annual Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
  • Sick Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENTS:
