Location: Florida
A forward-thinking aerospace organization is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to help develop a breakthrough launch vehicle powered by recycled materials, aiming to solve long-standing challenges in safety, affordability, and environmental impact.
In this role, you'll lead the development of mission-critical software for both flight and ground systems. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to build robust, real-time, fault-tolerant systems that support autonomous launch operations. This is a hands-on leadership position in a fast-paced, agile environment where flexibility and initiative are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the design and implementation of embedded and support software for launch systems
- Oversee testing, documentation, and integration across flight and ground platforms
- Collaborate with engineering teams to align software with vehicle architecture
- Evaluate third-party software for compatibility and performance
- Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables for software development cycles
- Lead fault-tolerant system design for autonomous control and safety-critical functions
- Conduct rigorous validation including Hardware-in-the-Loop testing
- Produce technical documentation and provide strategic input to leadership
