The role you will contribute:

The Director of Internal Communications is a leader of integrated communications, managing proactive internal platforms, and leading issues management efforts that are key to the success of AdventHealth, particularly with internal audiences. The director is an engaging communicator who has demonstrated success building and leading a team of experienced, strategic communications professionals that function as a liaison between front-line employees and executives in a way that reflects the values of the organization and builds trusted, long-term relationships with all audiences. The director's extensive leadership experience includes coaching and providing communications counsel to executives. They have the authority to make decisions and direct a team to plan and implement strategic communication that includes employee education, retention, engagement, wellness, and satisfaction; along with the goal of enhancing understanding of a wide variety of topics, including patient safety, privacy (HIPAA), fundraising, and other campus and system initiatives. The director collaborates with and offers guidance to executives, and other leaders in developing content for strategic communication plans, with an understanding of how to share and apply that content with partners across all communications functions. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Supports the Executive Director of Communications in leadership and program development.
  • Lead a team of internal communications managers in developing and executing systemwide holistic strategic communication plans that consider internal audiences, protecting and enhancing the reputation of AdventHealth.
  • Provide leadership and ownership of internal vehicles and other tools used for communication with team members.
  • Develop and enhance relationships with key internal stakeholders, including senior executives; identify and educate key internal stakeholders on significant initiatives relevant to their scope of responsibility.
  • Participates in 24-hour, on-call availability.
  • Bridge the gap between executive leadership and front-line staff, prioritize messages and action plans covering a multitude of campus and system goals.
  • Gather and analyze audience research and, in consultation with the executive director of communications, adjust communication vehicles accordingly.
  • Lead effort to maximize social media and online tools to drive and support the effective internal communications of key messages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Required
  • 7 Related Experience Required
  • Strong organization skills
  • Exceptional leadership skills and demonstrable emotional intelligence
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven results delivering successful communication campaigns
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in understandable terms to all levels of staff
  • Outstanding public speaking skills
  • Effective computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to work in a matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
  • Integrate and collaborate with external communications team and other key partners
  • Ability to customize communication to engage a diverse workforce
  • Innovative thinking, dedication, and motivation to be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines.
  • Proactively identify and manage potential issues and opportunities that would impact AdventHealth, both internally and externally.
  • Provide executive engagement support for senior executives as necessary, delivering trusted counsel and support throughout AdventHealth leadership and sharing communication strategies that ultimately deliver measurable results.
  • Strategically share external, executive and citizenship activities with internal audiences.
  • Support the implementation of crisis communication plans and create tools that assist with management of emergency preparedness.
