Position Summary

The Dock Attendant is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the marina. The Dock Attendant assists customers in the docking and tying of vessels safely and providing any other service for the customer to the best of their ability. The Dock Attendant is responsible for the maintenance of the docks, marina equipment and supplies. Individuals in this position must provide a high level of customer service and present a welcoming and professional image.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Assist customers with docking and tying of vessels safely
  • Assist the Dockmaster and other departments in marina-related tasks such as securing boats to docks, and connecting and monitoring utility services
  • Assist with towing vessels within the marina
  • Keep dock free of debris and clutter, including ensuring hoses and dock lines are stowed properly
  • Assist Facilities team with internal projects and maintenance.
  • Assist Forklift drivers with proper placement of boats and inventory
  • Ensure that all visitors enjoy an exceptional customer experience at the marina
  • Stocks and assists in maintaining inventory of supplies, materials, tools and equipment
  • Maintains clean, orderly and safe work areas; properly maintains assigned equipment and tools
  • Documents work performed daily
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor and staff, co-workers, guests, vendors, contractors, etc.
  • Following company, industry and best practices regarding safety standards (safe equipment usage, personal protective equipment, reporting)

Education, Work Experience, Licenses, and Certificates

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years’ experience docking and tying vessels
  • Captain's license (6 pack or 100 Ton)

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Requires climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
  • Requires the ability to use speech, vision and hearing
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Exposure to changes in temperature and humidity
  • Work is performed outside in the elements, on and around water
