Distribution Design Engineer

Kforce has a client in West Palm Beach, FL that is seeking a Distribution Design Engineer. Responsibilities:

• Under general supervision, provides project management and design services for distribution facilities as required
• Applies diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to broad variety of assignments and related fields
• Acts as a single point of contact for projects in the areas service territory
• Makes decisions independently regarding engineering complexities and methods
• Responsible for proactive and reactive communication pertaining to project scope until customer is ultimately satisfied
• Performing work order assessment and for completing the most complex of designs to meet internal/external customer needs and valid FPL requirements
• Coordinates planning, organization and implementation of engineering projects with other operating or engineering units to facilitate assignment completion
• Producing a resource estimate, (i.e. man-hours, materials, work type) necessary to execute the work
• Evaluating distribution system capability to serve new load while understanding and mitigating potential future impacts of the new load
• Provide and maintain cost-effective design while considering the impact to the customer and valid customer requests
• Project management, design, estimating, negotiations, performance tracking and reporting
• Responsible for all aspects of engineering design and permitting
• Work with other department within the organization to establish customer requirements and project cost
• Bachelor's degree in related field of study or High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work experience
• Master's degree in related field of study is preferred
• Electric Power Technology Certification
• 3+ years of experience in a combination of the following areas: Distribution/Utility; Customer interactions and negotiations
• Advanced ability with integrity and compliance, and professional skills
• Competent ability with analysis and problem solving, commercial, communications, process/project management, and leadership skills
• Must be highly knowledgeable and proficient in the design of the Distribution System, both in new construction and maintenance activities
• Ability to meet attendance and storm duty requirements
• Ability to work extended hours
