Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a Medical Laboratory Scientist III position assigned to the Virology Department. This position performs high-complexity diagnostic testing and is responsible for virology specimen receiving, RNA/DNA extraction, and real-time PCR. This role involves both routine surveillance and the development of new diagnostic assays under regulatory standards.
Duties and responsibilities for this position: Perform molecular and serological assays for viruses, including influenza A/B (surveillance), measles, and arboviruses (such as dengue, West Nile, and chikungunya).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Manage specimen accessioning and result reporting via the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Communicate directly with providers to ensure testing accuracy and clinical relevance.
- Assist in the design and implementation of laboratory developed essays.
- Support validation and verification studies in compliance with CLIA and other regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels, procure necessary supplies, and manage equipment service agreements.
- Ensure the proper packaging and shipping of materials to reference laboratories following safety and regulatory protocols.
Qualifications:
Minimum: Medical Technologist or Public Health Licensure
Preferred: Bachelor of Science
