What You'll Do:
The Vice President of Global Logistics Operations leads end ‑ to ‑ end terminal and warehouse operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient throughput in support of the Logistics & Shipping division and owns full P&L accountability for the NVO business. This role oversees multi ‑ location operations across the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Central America, driving operational excellence, asset reliability, labor productivity, cost efficiency, and profitable performance within the NVO business.
The role partners closely with Commercial leadership and Commercial Excellence to align operational capacity, service execution, and performance standards with customer demand, pricing discipline, and divisional growth priorities. In addition, the VP works in close partnership with Freight Services to ensure seamless execution, service reliability, and alignment between terminal, warehouse, and freight service delivery. The role also partners with HR and Labor Relations to align labor strategy, workforce models, and union engagement with business needs, safety expectations, and service requirements. With accountability for a large, unionized frontline workforce and NVO financial performance, this leader plays a critical role in delivering integrated service outcomes, workforce engagement, and sustained operational and financial results across the network.
Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:
Terminal & Warehouse Operations Leadership
- Lead terminal and warehouse operations across all locations, ensuring consistent, efficient, and standardized execution that supports divisional service commitments, growth objectives, and NVO P&L performance.
- Establish operating priorities and manage capacity utilization across terminals and warehouses to meet throughput, service, and customer demand requirements in close coordination with Freight Services operations.
- Drive productivity improvement initiatives by optimizing labor deployment, equipment utilization, and facility performance, balancing service reliability with cost ‑ to ‑ serve and financial outcomes.
- Partner closely with Freight Services, Commercial, and Commercial Excellence to align terminal and warehouse operations with the broader Logistics & Shipping agenda, translating customer demand, service commitments, and growth priorities into executable operating plans and performance expectations..
Labor Strategy, Workforce Engagement & Labor Relations
- Provide operational leadership for labor strategy across terminals and warehouses, aligning workforce models, staffing levels, and work rules with business needs, service requirements, NVO financial performance, and cost objectives
- Partner with Labor Relations and Human Resources to shape, interpret, and administer labor agreements, ensuring compliance while enabling operational flexibility and performance.
- Build constructive, trust-based relationships with union leadership and represented employees, driving engagement, accountability, and a shared focus on safety, productivity, and service excellence.
- Proactively identify and manage labor related risks, escalations, or disruptions to protect service continuity and operational performance.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Champion a strong safety culture across all terminal and warehouse operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory, environmental, and company standards.
- Embed safety expectations into daily operations and workforce leadership, including union and frontline engagement.
- Proactively identify and mitigate operational, safety, and labor related risks; lead incident response and corrective action processes to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure all facilities maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Asset Reliability & Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance strategies and programs to ensure high asset reliability, uptime, and safe operating conditions.
- Prioritize and manage maintenance investments to balance cost, performance, labor efficiency, and risk.
- Optimize lifecycle management of equipment and infrastructure
Throughput Optimization & Cost Management
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance throughput, reduce cycle times, and improve service levels.
- Optimize cost ‑ to ‑ serve through disciplined resource allocation, labor productivity, and process improvements.
- Develop, monitor, and act on KPIs related to productivity, utilization, labor efficiency, cost performance, and NVO service execution, in coordination with Freight Services.
- Partner with Finance to manage operating budgets, forecasts, and cost performance.
Equipment & Land Transportation Coordination
- Collaborate closely with equipment planning, land transportation, and Freight Services to align terminal and warehouse capacity, equipment availability, and service execution with demand and customer requirements.
- Ensure seamless coordination between terminals, warehouses, land transportation, and freight service execution.
- Support equipment optimization initiatives and service reliability improvements.
- Act as a key operational partner in resolving service disruptions and capacity constraints.
Leadership & Organizational Effectiveness
- Lead, develop, and retain a high ‑ performing operations leadership team across multiple locations.
- Establish clear performance expectations, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Drive workforce planning, training, and capability development across both management and frontline union teams.
- Foster strong cross ‑ functional collaboration to advance enterprise priorities and divisional performance.
Talent Development & Succession
- Develop leaders at all levels by building accountability, ownership, and capability; own succession planning to ensure a strong, ready leadership bench aligned to current and future business needs, with disciplined development action plans and measurable progress.
- Model and reinforce enterprise leadership expectations by driving a high performance, inclusive culture through visible leadership, strong engagement, and a consistent coaching cadence that holds leaders accountable for developing their teams and future leaders.
Experience:
- 10–15+ years of experience in terminal, warehouse, or logistics operations leadership.
- Proven track record managing multi-site operations and driving operational improvements.
- Strong knowledge of safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in asset-based operations and maintenance oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, drive cost efficiency, and improve service performance.
Technical Proficiencies:
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word.
Education & Credentials:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
Other:
- Ability to travel as needed.
