Unit Highlights:

Join our 44-bed 3 West Multisystem Progressive Care Unit with a focus on hepatology disorders and Pre-liver Transplant! A specialized team of hepatology experts work closely with our staff to focus on today's most effective management and treatment techniques for our patients. In addition to our base of hepatology patients, we care for a multisystem population ranging from gastrointestinal to nephrology and beyond. The array of the disorders that we care for coupled with our hepatology focus build a great foundation for nurse residents.

We are very proud of all the patients that have acquired liver transplants as a result of the care we provide them!

We pride ourselves on teamwork on this unit and love to help new team members grow their skills. We pray with our patients prior to their transplant surgeries and lend support to their families. Often, our patients come back to show us their progress and we tend to cry tears of joy as we see how well they're doing.

Complex Advancements

  • Patient Care Model: RNs, LPNs, Patient Care

Technicians, Nurse Technicians

  • Ratios: 4-5 patients per RN or LPN. LPNs practice independently with the support of RNs for tasks outside of their scope. 10-13 patients per Patient Care Technicians/Nurse Technicians

Dr. Ayman Koteish, Dr. Torfay Roman, and Dr. Shady Guirgus make up our hepatology physician team. Together we collaborate to provide exemplary care to this patient population. Our physicians love to take the time to teach our RNs and help them grow their knowledge of the hepatology specialty
