What you can expect to be doing:
EDC-Inc, a division of Haley Ward is looking for a Remote Sensing Manager who would be responsible for supporting our surveying and civil engineering teams in Florida. This role covers the full life cycle of geospatial data, from high-accuracy field acquisition using terrestrial scanners, mobile platforms, and UAVs, to the complex post-processing and drafting of LiDAR point clouds.
- Acquire LiDAR data using UAVs and mobile platforms, process raw data into point clouds.
- Setup, maintain, and operate survey equipment (GPS and data collector) to set required/missed GCPs and align scan data to survey coordinates.
- Lead and mentor drone pilots on FAA regulations and safety protocols. Assist in managing the Drone Program, including certifications and compliance.
- Process, register, and classify LiDAR point cloud data using Trimble Business Center, Trimble Perspective, LiDAR mill or similar.
- Generate survey-grade deliverables including topographic surfaces, contours, break lines, and planimetric mapping.
- Assist with light drafting and editing drawings in AutoCAD in accordance with company and client standards.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.
- Coordinate with Survey Project Managers and field crews to clarify requirements and resolve discrepancies.
- Process raw spatial data into high quality engineering and surveying deliverables.
- Lead and mentor growing drone and reality capture programs.
What you will need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree or technical degree preferred
- FAA Part 107 License required
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with LiDAR scanning or scan registration
- Proficiency in Trimble Perspective, Trimble Business Center and LiDAR mill or LiDAR processing and feature extraction
- Understanding of surveying principles, coordinate systems, and datums or the demonstrated ability to learn the workflows
- Ability to manage, process, and troubleshoot large-scale datasets and interpret survey control and field notes
- Experience working with point clouds from mobile or aerial LiDAR systems
- Strong communication skills; effective technical writing and verbal communication abilities
- Willingness to learn and take instructions
- Valid driver's license & reliable transportation required
- Experience with Windows-based software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required, and proficiency with GIS is preferred.
- This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to mobilize project locations and perform work during all weather conditions
- Ability to abide by the project schedule, coordinate travel plans, vehicle and equipment needs, and multi-party collaboration in a timely and efficient manner
