SUMMARY OF OVERALL PURPOSE

Give Kids The World Village is searching for an energetic, dynamic leader to take our fundraising and donor relations Teams to the next level. Having previous Leadership experience in fundraising or other revenue generation disciplines, the ideal Candidate will have the capacity to inspire others to embrace and advance the mission of Give Kids The World.

The Vice President of Advancement is a seasoned strategic and mission-based executive who leads and manages development programs which are dedicated to advancing the Villages institutional priorities and long-term relationships for the financial health and sustainability of the organization. While serving in this role, the Vice President will be familiar with the Donor Bill of Rights as developed by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and will adhere to those standards at all times.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Fundraising

  • Leads and/or actively participates in major fundraising and/or campaign solicitations.

  • Initiates and integrates systematic research and activities throughout the Development program. These activities include principal and major gifts, public-private partnerships, program related investment and social impact funding, planned and deferred giving, special events and projects, partnerships and legacy relations, corporations and foundations, new business development initiatives, international opportunities, advancement services, philanthropic marketing and stewardship programs

  • Actively manage his/her own donor portfolio and advance the productive, collaborative and professional culture at the Village

  • Carries a mixed portfolio of prospects capable of giving $500,000 or more ensuring those prospects are effectively moved through the various stages of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship

  • Positions and prepares Directors, Managers, other staff and volunteers for fundraising cultivation, solicitation and stewardship

Leadership

  • Works closely with the President & CEO and other integrated operating divisions of the Village to develop and implement strategic philanthropic initiatives, and lead and guide a sophisticated and high-performing fundraising team functioning near, at or above industry best practices.

  • Lead and coordinate all development activities in alignment with the broader institutional priorities established by the Give Kids The World Village President and Board of Directors.

  • Responsible for measurably planning, implementing and managing a strategic and comprehensive development program by establishing fundraising goals and clearly defined metrics; guiding identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies; updating Village Leadership, Board and interested stakeholders on fundraising progress where appropriate; collaboratively liaising with other Village operations and supervising a team of development professionals

Staff Management

  • Provide direction, leadership and support that mirror the mission and core values of the organization.

  • Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development.

  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct performance appraisals and administer salary adjustments.

  • Ensure continuous improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of the Development Team.

  • Promote a culture of high performance and exceptional customer services.

Fiscal Responsibilities

  • Develops, budgets and helps drive overarching long-range, annual, and project-based and tactical fundraising plans for individual and institutional donors and prospects

  • Oversees systems for transparent gift management, reporting and stewardship

PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT

  • Able to travel for extended overnight occasions.

  • Able to work outdoors.

  • Ability to lift and transfer 25 lbs.

  • Willingness to work a non-standard schedule to meet department needs.

Qualifications

SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A track record of successful and sustainable sales management, client or agency account management and/or nonprofit fundraising programs.

  • Excellent leadership skills and presence with the ability to engage and inspire others within the Development team and across the organization.

  • Highly competent in interpreting data and developing strategic plans.

  • Capable of translating plans and ideas into action that produces results as well as provide the appropriate direction and input to the Marketing team for them to effectively support the business objectives.

  • Creative problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Business acumen and fiscal responsibility.

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-starter, goal oriented and the capacity to manage multiple priorities with attention to details.

  • Able to work independently as well as promote collaboration and work with diverse groups.

  • Exceptional ability and confidence in engaging high net-worth individuals, board members and other high-profile individuals.

  • Commitment to continued professional growth and development.

  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including battery-operated golf cart

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Must meet acceptable attendance and punctuality requirements, which are essential functions for the position.

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, required

  • Knowledge of MS Office, Salesforce, Classy, iWave, and/or other fundraising donor management systems a plus.

  • 10+ years of experienceof major fundraising or related non-profit or for-profit experience in the areas of sales or revenue generation, preferably with increasing levels of responsibility

  • Master's Degree or related experience, preferred

  • Professional certifications such as CFRE or related, preferred
