Position Title: Industrial Electrician Department: Utility Services Job Type: Full Time Salary Range: $27.03 - $41.91 Hourly Job Number: TM060-16 Location CMS Building - 4250 NW 10th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309, FL Description: POSITION SUMMARY Installs, tests, troubleshoots, replaces, and maintains electrical and electronic systems and their components in a water or wastewater treatment plans, and at all distribution and collection facilities, including wellfields, lift stations, tanks, and storm stations. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. Troubleshoot and replace 480 Volt Motors Installs and repairs electrical systems and devices including controls and motor starters Tests electrical systems and equipment; detects causes of electrical failures and malfunctions; replaces and/or repairs components Ensures compliance of electrical systems and equipment with applicable codes Reviews electrical projects for upgrades; reads and prepares electrical diagrams Maintains inventory and orders materials or services Maintains records of work performed Assists in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) Uses and knowledgeable of digital tools and asset management systems Ensures compliance with safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and applicable electrical codes Works around medium voltage, rotating equipment and various hazardous chemicals Calculates line loading leads to determine wire and equipment size and capacity Prepares sketches for electrical layouts and installation Read and interpret specifications, schematics, blueprints and diagrams May be required to perform "stand-by duty", being available and responding to off-duty emergency call-ins to effect repairs to malfunctioning electrical, electronic and/or instrument systems Performs related work as required JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or an acceptable G.E.D. certificate or equivalency supplemented by a vocational / technical certification in electric work. Minimum of four (4) years of experience at the journeyman level (4160 volt motor and switchgear experience preferred). Journeyman Electrician Certificate of Competency issued by the Broward County Central Examining Board. Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire. Completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to two (2) years of the required experience. Ability to lift, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel and climb ladders up to 30 feet in performing a variety of job-related tasks. Ability to work out of bucket truck and work at moderate heights using ladder or scaffold. This position will be exposed to medium voltage (4,160 volts, 480 volts, etc.), will work around chemicals (chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, etc.), exposed to hydrogen sulfide as well as noisy areas and rotating equipment.
