East Bay Democratic Socialists of America are fighting for fair treatment, better conditions, and workplace power for all workers. We believe grassroots worker organizing is the foundation for building a workers’ movement and are actively supporting organizing efforts at larger corporate employers like Amazon and Starbucks whose labor practices impact workers across the economy. We are seeking new Organizers to join our long-term campaign to revolutionize these workplaces.

We are looking for volunteers interested in getting jobs in a Bay Area warehouse to help form a union. While organizing experience is certainly welcome, this campaign includes training and support and is intended to be an on-ramp for new organizers interested in gaining experience in the labor movement.

Bilingual (English/Spanish/Hindu/Urdu/Nepali) candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Connect with coworkers, identify issues, and build campaigns around them to win concessions
• Identify and develop worker-leaders and activists
• Meet regularly with organizing mentors and worker-organizers

Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal and a commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Willingness to work an unconventional schedule, including night hours.
• Ability to work well with a team and motivate others to take action.
• Skills for effective communication and facilitation.
• Enthusiasm for developing your own organizing capacity and supporting worker struggle.
• Understanding of and commitment to a broader working class movement.

This position requires being in the Bay Area, preferably the East Bay. Access to a car is particularly helpful for this work.
