GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Performs various duties related to right of way clearing and re-clearing; safely cuts, piles, sprays, and disposes of trees and brush as necessary to maintain adequate right of way clearance for power lines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drives/operates ROW vehicles and equipment as necessary to safely and efficiently complete tasks and projects
  • Performs daily inspection and maintenance of chainsaws and safety equipment; must be able to safely and efficiently operate chainsaws. Notifies supervisor in the event of safety hazards.
  • Performs right of way clearing duties, to include the following: bucket work, climbing work, ground clearing, cutting, chipping, piling, burning, and other disposal of brush.
  • Cuts danger trees and has the ability to rope and direct trees away from hazards under direct supervision.
  • Able to work in bucket truck under supervision of a foreman helping trim or remove debris in order to provide adequate clearance.
  • Inspects right of way in front of equipment to flag obstacles. (i.e.: phone pedestals, guy wire, water and gas meters, etc.).
  • Performs traffic control duties around work area as needed and abides by all state and federal D.O.T. and local regulations.
  • Must understand general safety rules and policies and promote good relations with other crew members, patron cooperatives, and the general public.
  • Reports work related problems, material or supply needs and equipment to crew Foreman.
  • The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.
  • Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES CONT'DMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED Maintain a valid driver's license. 0-6 months experience REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS As a condition of employment, this position requires a valid driver’s license, post-offer fit for duty physical, pre-employment drug test, and must be able to pass DOT physical. Training specified in 29 CFR 1910.269(a)(1)(i)(E) is required. PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Commercial Applicator Technician. Temporary Traffic Control. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Outside working environment to include uneven and difficult terrain, wherein there are hazardous working conditions and potentially life-threatening situations exist (fire, chemicals, electrical sources, heights, dangerous people, etc.) all the time per job duties and responsibilities. Must be able to work extra hours when necessary and report to work whenever needed during non-scheduled working periods.
